Granby Toxteth Development Trust is the Community Anchor Organisation for the Toxteth neighbourhood and since our incorporation in 1994 our main aim has been to help improve the social and economic well-being of local residents and businesses and the wider Liverpool and Merseyside communities. We are independent, local and charitable. GTDT is: • A focus for services and activities meeting local need • A vehicle for local voices to be heard, needs to be identified and for local leaders and community groups to be supported • A platform for community development, promoting cohesion whilst respecting diversity • A home for the community sector which is supportive of the growth and development of community groups • A means of promoting community led enterprise, generating independent income whilst having a social, economic and environmental impact • A forum for dialogue within communities, creating community led solutions • A bridge between communities and the state which promotes and drives social change • A building, a physical space

We redistribute surplus food from supermarkets to the local community and local charities. This not only saved food from landfill but also helps to build community. - What premises does your project operate from? Currently 38 Linkside Rd, L25 9NX. This is registered with EHO. We have just been offered one day a week in a local shop. We are also working with two local councillors (Mirna Juarez and Sharon Connor) to rent space in a local church hall in an evening too. - How do you identify service users and their needs? They approach us through our facebook page, word of mouth or other people/organisations direct them to ourselves. For example, Alice Bennett, an ex local councillor directed us to a lady with seven children. They also come to our Friday community event in Hunts Cross Gardens. - Are there any other services provided by your organisation other than food support? Our other aim is building community and providing opportunities for volunteering. - Is there a charge for the service(s) provided by your organisation? No - Do you currently collect surplus food from any other retailers? Yes – Tesco and a local Co op. - Has there been local press or similar that demonstrates your organisation's work in the local community? Not yet although the local councillors do share our facebook page. - Would it be possible to provide photographs of work that your organisation does in the local community? There are lots on our facebook page and Instagram page - Is your project a registered charity, registered CIC, social enterprise or non-profit organisation? We have made an application. - Have you partnered with other local good causes or council members who may be able to provide a reference? 25th Allerton Scout Group Base: St Mary’s Church Hall, Grassendale, Liverpool L19 Who we are For 75 years we’ve delivered fun, inclusive Scouting for 90 young people aged 4-14 from Garston, Aigburth and Allerton, run by 30 trained volunteers. Our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts build confidence, friendship and real-world skills through adventure, teamwork and creativity. What we do • Weekly section meetings (craft, STEM, outdoor fun) • Affordable camps, hikes and community service projects • “Who Let the Dads Out” stay-and-play (30+ families) • Cressington Wombles litter-picks & tree-planting (100s involved) • Uniform swap-shop & hardship fund for low-income families How we identify need Section leaders hold doorstep chats, run a confidential support-request form and observe wellbeing signals (missing lunch, no coat). Monthly dads-and-toddlers mornings are a listening post for isolation or cost-of-living worries. Support is offered privately so no child feels singled-out. Section nights – fruit, cereal bars and juice fuel games and badge work for 90 members. 2. Cooking badges – pasta, rice and tinned veg teach budgeting, knife skills and food-waste reduction. Helping to reduce fees for families. 3. “Who Let the Dads Out” breakfasts – surplus bread, milk and produce become subsidised bacon baps, porridge and smoothies, building confidence and community. 4. Camps & hikes – chilled proteins and tinned meals feed 30 campers, keeping fees low. 5. Discreet family support – pantry bags or ingredients are offered privately to households flagged by leaders or the support form. Storage & safety: Two 150 L fridges Level 2 Food Safety leader oversees rotation and allergen labelling. Chilled items used within 24 h or frozen.
