Rotunda is a grass roots charity and Community HUB based in Kirkdale, Liverpool. Rotunda support the L4, L5 and L6 Liverpool community, visiting learners, volunteers, our R.I.S.E students within our Independent school, 18 trainee counsellors and anyone who walks through our door. We offer free welfare and legal advice and free counselling. We support parents by running a Nursery and a place to learn, with help getting back into work. Rotunda offers free meals with many of our courses and free food for all children who attend our many community events including at least four large events each year with a footfall of over 500 local people. The Rotunda Wellbeing Community Garden and Bistro is a much needed and utilised local meeting place and a place where we can educate in healthy living and support the community with subsidised food and help in this time of real austerity.

We redistribute surplus food from supermarkets to the local community and local charities. This not only saved food from landfill but also helps to build community. - What premises does your project operate from? Currently 38 Linkside Rd, L25 9NX. This is registered with EHO. We have just been offered one day a week in a local shop. We are also working with two local councillors (Mirna Juarez and Sharon Connor) to rent space in a local church hall in an evening too. - How do you identify service users and their needs? They approach us through our facebook page, word of mouth or other people/organisations direct them to ourselves. For example, Alice Bennett, an ex local councillor directed us to a lady with seven children. They also come to our Friday community event in Hunts Cross Gardens. - Are there any other services provided by your organisation other than food support? Our other aim is building community and providing opportunities for volunteering. - Is there a charge for the service(s) provided by your organisation? No - Do you currently collect surplus food from any other retailers? Yes – Tesco and a local Co op. - Has there been local press or similar that demonstrates your organisation's work in the local community? Not yet although the local councillors do share our facebook page. - Would it be possible to provide photographs of work that your organisation does in the local community? There are lots on our facebook page and Instagram page - Is your project a registered charity, registered CIC, social enterprise or non-profit organisation? We have made an application. - Have you partnered with other local good causes or council members who may be able to provide a reference? Community food (csw) are a group of caring volunteers with a passion to share God's love with the amazing community we live in. We have run for over 14 years Every day, we nourish 170 families per week with food bags and surplus food. We're also a busy and vibrant meeting place. From our community shop ,were locals enjoy a natter . Our community shop 71 mill Lane wallasey continue to supply our community cheap food and second hand goods. Our family days out and events build some wonderful shared memories - 120 kids came to our annual kids Christmas party last year, 95 homeless people showed up to our Christmas dinner and our carol service was a big success. All these social opportunities help bring people together to nurture a sense of togetherness and knowledge that others are looking out for them. In turn, this boosts confidence and gives many the courage to make positive changes in their lives. By collaborating with other local groups, we've achieved a lot over the last fourteen years. We've teamed up with Teen Challenge, which is based all over the UK to get addicts into a 12 month rehab. They'll learn social skills, respect, life skills and have a chance to move into job at the end of it. There's nothing better for their self esteem and confidence! We're also linked up with Thompson Mission, YMCA, Wirral Arc, Probation, Wirral Ways, and Birkenhead Court. We stand with our community members in court to appeal on their behalf before being sentenced. Plus, we buy new clothes and toiletries for people before they go in and visit them in jail. At the moment, we have over 20 volunteers working with us helping on the streets and in our centre with paperwork and accounts. Our volunteers grow and learn skills with us that empower them to become more employable. All these opportunities are free for our community. It's a weekly struggle keeping up with demand financially but are greatful to patners like m&s , lidl , asda . We pray everything forward. God is good and faithful.
