HEMSWORTH FOOD BANK
Pontefract, UK
The Hemsworth Food Pantry was established as an Independent Food Bank in early April 2020, and it is completely operated by volunteers. Over the years, we have evolved into a vital hub offering support, guidance, and access to additional resources in collaboration with other community organizations.
Since 2024, we have expanded our services to cover the Wakefield Ward 7 areas, including Hemsworth, Kinsley, Fitzwilliam, and South Hiendley.
As an Independent Food Bank, we extend various forms of assistance, such as:
* Food Parcels
* Baby Hygiene Kits
* Personal Hygiene Packages
* School Holiday Support Meals and Parcels
* Guidance and Referral Services
In addition to the Food Bank, we run a weekly Community Food Pantry, which involves collecting surplus food items from supermarkets that would otherwise end up in landfill, thus contributing to food waste reduction. Community members are welcome to come and take their share of items like bread, vegetables, and fruit. During pantry sessions, the church supports us by hosting a light breakfast and coffee gathering.
Throughout the Christmas season, we also distribute gift parcels to families within the communities we serve.
Furthermore, we combat period poverty by supplying free menstrual products to those in need within our communities.

With up to 94% success rate and seeing once those receiving free Looprun response bags to returning to stores as shoppers with baskets full. These are the impact stories created when all come together to do good for good. Service users are signposted to Looprun mostly from referrals including professionals in social and healthcare.
Looprun provides free non perishables, perishable food, toiletries, and brand new clothing to people facing a temporary challenge.
Whatever supermarkets, stores, and retailers can do is turned into a grateful donation to a neighbour in need. This is a response to real people in real-time.
No food is banked providing a direct in and out service. We believe if the food is stored then a person in need is not getting any food, hence we provide an instant response and instant impact service.
Looprun has access to professional volunteers who carry out a confidential support service to people in need. From homeless shelters, hostels, sheltered housing, care homes, soup kitchens and schools. This is a non voucher, free and confidential service. This means Looprun can reach more people in need with food donations.
Anyone that receives a Looprun bag of essential food items is sustained thus creating a loop cycle.
All are invited to become part of these sustainable stories in your local community.

Recipe 4 Change Community Interest Company
Doncaster, UK
Recipe 4 Change CIC empowers communities across Doncaster through hands-on food education, practical cooking skills, and healthy eating support. We help people gain confidence in preparing affordable, nutritious meals while reducing food waste and improving wellbeing.
We work with food banks, community groups, schools, youth organisations, vulnerable children and families, older adults, and individuals facing financial hardship. Through our mobile cooking provision, we deliver up to five practical cooking sessions each week across Doncaster, teaching essential life skills, budgeting, nutrition, food safety, and sustainable cooking practices.
Our aim is to remove barriers to healthy eating by bringing food education directly into communities that need it most. We believe everyone deserves access to the knowledge, skills, and ingredients needed to prepare healthy meals for themselves and their families.
We currently use Aldi as our primary food supplier for our community cooking sessions and are seeking support through surplus food donations. Access to surplus food would allow us to reduce programme costs, increase the number of people we can support, provide additional ingredients for practical lessons, and help distribute nutritious food to local community groups and food banks where it is needed most.
By supporting Recipe 4 Change CIC, you are helping us create healthier communities, reduce food waste, tackle food insecurity, and give people the skills and confidence to make lasting positive changes through food.
