Our centre opens 4 days a week and offers support to all of our local community, and is available to anyone without the need for a referral. We work tirelessly to tackle food waste and provide food, non food items, support and access to services to all. We offer surplus food, free of any charges (membership fees etc) to ANYONE within the community and aim to support those most in need. Hot meals are supplied 3 days a week and non perishable emergency food parcels are provided to those in need and we NEVER ASK QUESTIONS... Our goal is simple: 1. To tackle food waste

Our services are available to the whole community without prejudice and we are committed to helping those in need- regardless of circumstance. We are a fully inclusive centre and pride ourselves on equality. We are fully volunteer run and have an amazing team on hand, ready and willing to do everything possible to provide help, support and safety for all

Who Are We?
The Tin Hat Centre Charity is a small, local organisation that provides vital services and support to the residents in the Parish of Selston, surrounding villages and the wider Ashfield District. Operating since 2001, we are a registered charity, run by part-time staff and volunteers, and funded by donations and grants.
What We Do
We offer a range of services and activities that aim to improve the quality of life and well-being of our community, especially those who are most vulnerable, isolated, or in need.
Some of our services include:
- A Food Bank that provides emergency food parcels to individuals and families who are struggling to afford necessities
- Free and subsidised meals cooked for the vulnerable elderly, disabled, or carers.
- A warm space- For people who are struggling to afford their energy bills, open every weekday, where anyone can come and enjoy a hot drink, a snack, a friendly chat, and access to information and advice
- A Community Library that lends books to our community, as well as offering free internet access, a computer and a printer
- A Community Cafe that serves affordable and healthy food and drinks, and hosts regular social events and activities
- A Community Garden that grows fresh fruits and vegetables, and provides opportunities for gardening groups, learning opportunities, and volunteering
- Educational/Community Classes that cover topics such as languages, floristry, arts and crafts, Health and well-being and other personal development sessions. These are organised by local training providers or community-led projects.
-Citizens Advice – Held at the Centre once a week, offering specialist help and advice.
-Community Integration- A lovely place to meet friends or meet new people. We have 35 community classes per week, evening classes, monthly quiz nights and guest speakers.
Oscari is a nonprofit organisation that help support members of the local community by providing q food bank, complete shower room/restroom, social activities, a community tumble wash, social eating cafe, kids club and many fun themed event evenings.
We are trying to breakdown barriers ,prevent period poverty, aim for a zero to landfill food ethos, prevent and reduce social isolation,food deprivation and loneliness
