How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, ALDI has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

HEMSWORTH FOOD BANK

Pontefract, UK

The Hemsworth Food Pantry was established as an Independent Food Bank in early April 2020, and it is completely operated by volunteers. Over the years, we have evolved into a vital hub offering support, guidance, and access to additional resources in collaboration with other community organizations. Since 2024, we have expanded our services to cover the Wakefield Ward 7 areas, including Hemsworth, Kinsley, Fitzwilliam, and South Hiendley. As an Independent Food Bank, we extend various forms of assistance, such as: * Food Parcels * Baby Hygiene Kits * Personal Hygiene Packages * School Holiday Support Meals and Parcels * Guidance and Referral Services In addition to the Food Bank, we run a weekly Community Food Pantry, which involves collecting surplus food items from supermarkets that would otherwise end up in landfill, thus contributing to food waste reduction. Community members are welcome to come and take their share of items like bread, vegetables, and fruit. During pantry sessions, the church supports us by hosting a light breakfast and coffee gathering. Throughout the Christmas season, we also distribute gift parcels to families within the communities we serve. Furthermore, we combat period poverty by supplying free menstrual products to those in need within our communities.
