From Our Community, For Our Community 💚 CHOMP is a 100% volunteer-run Community Interest Company supporting individuals and families across Lincoln and the surrounding areas. We rescue surplus food, provide free community food distributions, emergency food parcels, household essentials and community activities that reduce food waste, tackle food insecurity and bring people together. We are always looking for surplus food donations, volunteers, business partnerships and financial support to help us reach even more people. Founded on the belief that nobody should go hungry or feel alone, CHOMP has become much more than a food support organisation. We are a community where everyone is welcomed with dignity, compassion and without judgement. We are currently in the process of registering as a CIO. Working alongside supermarkets, local businesses, FareShare and community partners, we rescue perfectly good surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and redistribute it free of charge through regular community distributions, emergency support and outreach. Alongside food support we also provide toiletries, hygiene products, flowers, household essentials and signposting to other local services. Throughout the year we organise free family events, children’s activities, community litter picks, seasonal celebrations, wellbeing initiatives and volunteering opportunities that help reduce loneliness and strengthen community connections. Since launching, CHOMP has: 💚 Delivered over 726 emergency food parcels 💚 Supported over 900 households 💚 Redistributed the equivalent of 33,836 meals 💚 Prevented over approximately 25,967kg of CO₂ emissions 💚 Saved many tonnes of perfectly edible food from becoming waste Everything we provide is completely free, with no referral required for our community distributions and no judgement for those who need support. As demand continues to grow, we are now fundraising to secure a permanent CHOMP Community Hub. Having our own permanent premises will allow us to expand our food support, safely store donations, increase volunteer opportunities, provide indoor community activities throughout the year and create a welcoming space where local people can access support, connect with others and build stronger communities. We deliver full day care for children aged 6 weeks and five years. We work inline with the requirements of the EYFS to help children on their development journey by providing a warm, caring and stimulating environment where children can develop skills for the future. We are in a deprived area of Lincoln and provide affordable and flexible childcare that suits their needs. We distribute our surplus food donations by setting up a table in the hallway so parents and children can select what they want to take when they arrive. The parents are on low incomes in a deprived area. The fresh produce is kept refrigerated and given to the parents who have the greatest need usually those with large families or receive EYPP funding and one parent families. The surplus food has helped our children from going hungry and provided them with fresh fruit and vegetables that they would be otherwise be unable to buy.

The Mint Lane Cafe provides you with a warm welcome to the well-being centre, Involve@Lincoln. At the cafe, you can find out about and get involved in the activities and groups that use the centre. Furthermore, we provide a space for social eating: you can share a table and meet new people you have always wanted to know. We reduce food waste: everything we serve is made from good food that would otherwise go to waste. We take action on food poverty by providing wholesome meals for people who cannot afford to eat well. There are many volunteering opportunities at the cafe.
