ALDI ROTHERHAM - PARKGATE

The project began in May 2015 and ran a series of successful pop-ups, feeding an average of 201 people per event and utilising 15 volunteers each time to assist in the planning and execution of the events. Fast forward to 2026 and Food Works now recovers over 300 tonnes of surplus food per year to help build a fair and sustainable food system in Sheffield. Through our two community cafes and 17 community partner hubs we are providing access to affordable, sustainable food across the city.

Darnall Community Nursery is a not-for-profit charity for families living in and around Darnall. Established in 1993 we are an outstanding childcare provider and community facility, that is run by our community for our community, providing services that are influenced by the needs of local children and their families. As a well-established inclusive charity, we have strong links to our community. Darnall is one of the most deprived and diverse areas in Sheffield. Our nursery and special needs unit are constantly full. Many of the children and families that access our services are on low income and the most vulnerable. We have been working with our community to establish needs led groups that are accessible, supportive and add value and give confidence to people. More recently our Community Café and recently established Community Fridge are a most needed support for people in these more difficult times

Action Housing provides food donations to vulnerable tenants and clients who visit our Parkgate Rawmarsh office. We support individuals who are not in employment and face significant budgeting challenges due to various circumstances including addiction, abuse, and other vulnerabilities. As part of our holistic approach to supporting those experiencing homelessness and housing instability, we distribute food donations to help meet basic needs whilst our clients work on developing life skills and accessing additional support services. - Education/training - Accommodation/housing - Other defined groups - Provides services
