EMS Ltd is an incorporated charity that has been operational since November 2009. We work with, residents, community groups and local businesses to alleviate food and fuel poverty. Basically, we proved food to families who may otherwise go without. Our services operate under the following company objectives: Growing: Developing community allotments, growing spaces and edible gardens on unused land so residents can grow produce close to their homes. We also have a therapy allotment that is available for organisations to use. Energy: Offer a range of practical energy saving equipment, support and advice so residents can save money on their fuel bills. Food: The Hull Community Shops we turn surplus produce collected from supermarkets/suppliers into affordable food for residents in food poverty. We have seven shops operating around the Hull. Cooking on a Budget sessions; working with residents to improve their cooking skills in a social setting. Freedom Food Project; cooking nutritious ready-meals (priced at £3.50) for up to a family of four and delivered to community fridges located around Hull. Nature: Environmental education in schools including tree/seed planting, along with the building of bug hotels and bird/bat boxes. Actively recruiting and working with volunteers with various abilities on all of our services to increase their self-confidence, health and general well-being. Working with partner organisations, residents, and community groups to develop effective projects that effect change. Impact: Within our various projects we support over 89,000 residents annually this figure increases year on year as the cost of living continues to rise.

Biggin Hill primary is a highly successful primary school serving the Bransholme Estate and surrounding areas. As a larger than the average-sized primary school with 700+ pupils, our staff work hard to ensure that each child is regarded as an individual with distinct needs. The school is situated in an area of high unemployment, and our families face a variety of issues including low incomes, food poverty, and domestic violence. We aim to support our families based upon a whole school approach, we provide items to struggling families such as clothing, uniforms, bedding, furnishings, and food. We have been able to do this working alongside charities such as Fareshare Hull and Humber, Giving World, Greggs Breakfast Club, Women’s Aid, and Cash for Kids. With their help, we have been able to support our most vulnerable families through such initiatives as a free breakfast club, food parcels, and being able to provide families with Christmas presents. At the present time we are introducing OPAL play which is a scheme that encourages the children to use there imaginations and learn how to risk assess their own play. To enable us to do this we are looking for donations of wood, rope, tyres, drain pipes, baths, boats, toys, bread and food trays. Things that you may think are just fit for the bin we can probaly recycle

Bameen cic is a community based organization which delivers awareness and education/training to a diverse range of communities in Hull. It works with a range of groups of people representing diverse ethnic backgrounds using the environment as the focus for its activities. Established in 2013; it has built up a wide client group and set of skills and knowledge on environmental issues like recycling, energy efficiency and urban agriculture etc. It is in a position to offer a wide range of services in addition to training, incorporating consultancy on environmental issues and access to minority/ethnic groups for user response and feedback. In October 2019, founder of Bameen was recognized and awarded an MBE for leading Bameen to work on a range of programmes to support the Black and Minority ethnic community in Hull and East Riding ,including promoting recycling, energy saving, local food production and environmental educational training programmes.
