We are a nursery who receive Government funding for some 2 and all 3 year old children. We feed our children 3 main meals and 2 snacks per day. We give out surplus food to our parents to encourage healthy choices at home as well as in our nursery. We also support our local foodbank.

The Crew Club is a community led charity based in Whitehawk in East Brighton. Whitehawk is one of the 10% most deprived areas in the whole of the UK. The Club provides activities and opportunities for children and young people and their families as well as activities and support for the over 55's. Established in 1999 after the fatal stabbing of a local young person on the Whitehawk Estate. The Crew Club is now considered a beacon in the community providing young people with a safe place to go. The Crew Club offers a Safe Start programme after school for ages 7-11, a Young Girls Group, a Youth Drop-in, a Maths and English Tutor group to help young people achieve their GCSE's, a Homework Club, Breakfast clubs and Lunch clubs,a coffee morning for older adults to connect and regular football, cricket and boxing sessions for everyone across the age range. The Club also take over 60 young people and their families on an annual overnight coach trip somewhere like Alton Towers, which provides a holiday for low income families who would otherwise never be able to take a break away. There are also regular cooking lessons and food provided to the young people who often arrive hungry. Our food that we use is from surplus food in the city.

The Real Junk Food Project intercepts this perfectly edible food from local businesses and supermarkets before it is thrown away, turning it into healthy meals to serve to the community on a Pay as You Feel basis. The Pay As You Feel concept invites people to exchange not just their money, but ideas, time and creativity for a meal.
