Action for the River Kennet exists to conserve, protect, and improve the rivers, streams and watercourses that make up the River Kennet catchment. The catchment starts on the outskirts of Devizes, Wilshire and flows to Reading in Berkshire. We think that everyone deserves to live in a place with clean rivers, flowing with enough water to support abundant wildlife. We have a team of almost 200 active volunteers who regularly take part in work to clean up and restore our water courses, In the first month of this year alone Action for the River Kennet has restored and repaired over 100m of river bank, run river projects for over 300 children, collected more than 50 sacks of litter from the river, marked about 300 drains to remind people that the flow to the river, and run an event to help farmers to adopt river friendly farming practices and surveyed 50 sites along the river to check its health.
