Gwent wildlife trust has a vision of an environment rich in wildlife for everyone. we work to rebuild biodiversity and engage people with their environment. we manage land, campaign for wildlife, provide advice and promote enjoyment and appreciation of wildlife. The Big Spring Clean at Peterstone Wentlooge Foreshore will take place in April 2019, Gwent Wildlife Trust works in collaboration with other local organisations to clear and monitor the variety and quantity of litter and debris from a mile long section of the foreshore. Each year huge amounts of litter are still being collected from the foreshore, plastics and other types of waste are at risk of becoming marine litter which is damaging to wildlife and the health of our oceans. The foreshore clean is attended by over forty staff and volunteers from organisations such as; the RSPB, the Wentlooge Wildfowlers, Keep Wales Tidy and Newport City Council. The clean up is not just about removing the physical debris left behind but it is an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges faced by marine life because of man made plastic pollution and debris.
