Establishing traditional wildflower meadow for insects & wildlife & inspire local groups about nature & environmental issues including biodiversity, waste, plastics, recycling, community growing, mindfulness, story telling & art. We have ongoing community pollinator habitat improvement involving local groups and also tackle wider environmental issues including a current project involving collecting plastic rubbish from the nearby River Douglas which will be taken to the outdoor environmental area of the Pollinator Project, & with groups of schoolchildren will be discussing where the plastic rubbish originated from and what actions children, parents and schools can take to tackle the problem. Funding is always needed for wildflower seeds, fence repairs, equipment, maintenance, habitat creation & educational materials. We also need funding for an outdoor story telling chair so that schoolchildren can come and sit in the fresh air & summer sun enjoying stories under the trees by the wildflower meadow. The hope is that by evoking early positive memories of the outdoors children will be encouraged to appreciate the nature around them & care for the environment in the future. We also intend to have mindfulness activities in the meadow including yoga, meditation, art and sculpture classes involving all ages of the community including older people to combat loneliness and isolation.
