Solving Kids' Cancer

London, UK

Neuroblastoma is a rare form of cancer affecting around 100 families a year in the UK. It accounts for around 7% of all childhood cancer diagnoses and has one of the lowest survival rates of all childhood cancers. On average, 35–40 children age 0–14 die of neuroblastoma in the UK each year, making it one of the leading causes of death from cancer in children. Solving Kids' Cancer helps children access potentially life-saving treatment, whilst supporting research that not only aims to introduce new treatments but also bring existing internationally available options here to the UK. Our dedicated Family Support service offers specialist support to equip families with the knowledge and resources they need to fight this disease; emotionally, practically and clinically. Support us by volunteering, donating, fundraising or raising awareness for children affected by this terrible disease. #SolvingKidsCancerTogether

Fundraising for Mind in Mid Herts

St Albans, UK

Mind in Mid Herts is a small organisation in Hertfordshire who provide services for people with mental health. Mind in Mid Herts are affiliated to National Mind, however we are our own independent business and therefore rely on funding from grants and fundraising in order to support people in Hertfordshire. Our vision is to work to ensure the mental health of everyone in Hertfordshire is supported and respected. So why fund- raise for Mind in Mid Herts? 1- 4 people suffer with a mental health problem each year. 75% of adults with mental health problems first experience them before the age of 18. 1 in 10 young people experience a mental health problem. The economic cost of mental health illness in the UK is around 100 billion pounds which is almost double of what crime costs (60 billion pounds). 78% of suicides are men and the amount of suicides are increasing since 2008. In order to support people in Hertfordshire, Mind in Mid Herts has three themes to the work we do: Prevention- Raising awareness through attending local events and providing talks and workshops in schools, colleges and workplaces & by offering courses to build resilience & courage through managing emotions and better relationships. Social Support- for people with long term conditions to prevent relapse and social isolation, through offering services such as social groups from art to exercise groups to music, drop in groups, outreach support and cafe groups. Recovery- for those who have become unwell and want to recover and regain their good mental health, through our Stepping Stones project which goes into hospitals and supports people back into their lives once they leave hospital. We also have counselling services, recovery groups and vocational support to help with long term recovery. To continue to help those in need and to reach out to those still in need we really rely on others to volunteer, raise awareness and to fund- raise for us. We appreciate and thank people for any time they are able to give us no matter how small, it all helps. Thank you in advance from the team at Mind in Mid Herts!
