Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance is a registered charity, established to provide relief from sickness and injury for the people in Dorset and Somerset, by providing an air ambulance. Since our launch in March 2000, we have flown over 11,000 missions. We operate a Eurocopter EC135 helicopter from our airbase at Henstridge on the Dorset/Somerset border. From there, we can be at any point in the two counties within 20 minutes. More importantly, the helicopter can then take a patient to any one of the Major Trauma Centres in the South West within a further 20 minutes. Our operational costs are over £2 million a year. The cost per mission is approximately £2,500. We receive no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery and rely entirely on the generosity of the public for support. Thank you!

Julia’s House provides outstanding, award-winning care for babies, children and young people with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions and support for their families. Our nurses and carers are in the community, in our hospices and in homes across Dorset and Wiltshire providing frequent, regular short breaks for mums and dads and social opportunities for the whole family. Our care is free of charge for families and available 365 days a year. Unlike most other hospices, we give families regular, frequent and flexible care week in week out. We want every member of the family to feel positive and supported – to get the most out of their time together.

At Margaret Green Animal Rescue we take in pets that have become homeless due to a change in circumstances, or that have been neglected, mistreated or abandoned. Regardless of their circumstance, each pet will find a warm bed, a kind team and all the love and respect they deserve awaiting them at Margaret Green Animal Rescue. We pride ourselves on the standard of care each rescue pet receives. As well as veterinary care, pets are prepared and rehabilitated ready for a new home. Most of our animals are vaccinated, micro chipped, treated against worms and fleas and neutered before going to their new home. Finding forever homes is at the very heart of what we do and there is no better feeling than knowing we have found the perfect match. Our rehoming process is designed specifically to help potential owners adopt a pet that fits in perfectly with their lives and loved ones. After adopting a pet from Margaret Green Animal Rescue you can be assured that you will always have our support. For advice and guidance, we will be right beside you whenever you need us through the adoption process and onwards as you settle into a life together. Margaret Green, who founded our charity in 1965, was an amazing lady with incredible strength and determination. She passed away on Christmas Eve 2009, age 94. Despite being hospitalised for some weeks prior to her death, she still wouldn’t stop thinking of animals and even on the night before she died, she insisted on checking that arrangements had been made for her annual Christmas donation of carrots for Angel and all the other horses at our Church Knowle Centre. Nowadays our aims remain unchanged and we care for over 1,200 animals each year across three centres. Our Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor Centre covers 35 acres of beautiful Purbeck countryside. It is home to cats, horses, donkeys, pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and many more species. It is also a visitor centre and is open 7 days a week between 10am and 4pm. Church Knowle is also home to the charity’s head office which houses the finance, retail and fundraising teams. Our Lincoln Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre for Dogs is situated between Blandford and Bere Regis in Dorset. Finally, our Wingletang Rescue and Rehoming Centre for Dogs and Cats is situated near Tavistock, in Devon.
