Helen & Douglas House, Hospice care for local terminally ill children

Oxford, UK

Helen & Douglas House is a home from home for local terminally ill children and their families. We provide round-the-clock care in a warm, loving environment. We’re a comforting cocoon filled with laughter, a peaceful place where families can create happy memories in their last days, weeks, months or years together. Based in Oxford, but supporting families from surrounding counties and as far as London, we care for terminally ill children at Helen House, the world's first children's hospice, and through our outreach service. Parents, brothers, sisters and grandparents are all part of the Helen & Douglas House family. At the toughest time of their lives, we give families the time and space to enjoy the precious moments they have left with each other.

Macmillan - ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’

London, UK

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, we did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £200 million for Macmillan. By 2020 almost 1 in 2 people will get cancer at some point in their lives, but you can help us be there for even more people affected by cancer. The fantastic fundraising efforts have enabled Macmillan to fund professional posts in local communities across the country from Macmillan Lung Clinical Nurse Specialists to Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advisors. These posts have a daily, direct impact on people affected by cancer and their families and would not exist without the support from M&S.
