SANE
London, UK
... by offering therapeutic emotional support, researching into causes and treatments, and campaigning to raise mental health awareness and end stigma. Experiencing mental illness can be devastating. SANE offers compassionate care and therapeutic emotional support to people affected their friends, family and carers, 365 days a year, via: • Personalised support: helpline, email, online forum, caller care, text care, carers' circle • Social media: emotional support and information via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn • Websites: information and resources, and a place to express oneself, communicate with an informed community and give/receive peer support The unique element of SANE’s service provision is the nature, quality and depth of the emotional support offered, and the many different ways people can access help. Free, easily accessible help is vital, because high-quality, long-term emotional support is the missing element from statutory provision. SANE’s psychological guidance covers every detail of mental illness Mental health stigma leaves many sufferers isolated end excluded. SANE’s anti-stigma Black Dog Campaign hopes to change that. Our visually striking Black Dog statues tour the UK, visiting public spaces, schools, universities and offices, sending the message of hope and support. The campaign informs people about mental illness, reduces stigma, and encourages those in need to seek help. SANE has been overwhelmed by positive messages confirming just how comforting and therapeutic Black Dog is for people struggling with mental illness and facing the consequences of stigma.
