B&Q Tallaght

Lamh Failte helping the homeless, is a non-profit organisation founded and set up in Dublin in 2020. We help homeless people by providing a food and clothing stall on North Earl Street, here in Dublin City. We hand out hot homemade tasty dishes, cold dishes, hot fluids, clothing items, sleeping bags, toiletries, snacks, portions of fruit, and we also give out takeaway dishes, every Saturday evening. Our group is ran by volunteers and there are about 20 to 25 of us at any given time. All of our volunteers source and cook the donations in their own homes, then we meet up on North Earl Street every Saturday from 7.15 pm to around 9:30 pm. We rely heavily on donations from the public and local business. We are not a registered charity and cannot accept cash donations.

Tiglin is a registered charity, based in the Republic of Ireland, that helps people overcome addiction and homelessness. We have assisted hundreds of people and their families to improve their lives. We believe in each person’s potential. We get results that benefit the whole of society. Tiglin provides residential rehabilitation programmes for men and women in addiction or homelessness. Our programmes take a holistic approach: as well as dealing with addiction, we also want to equip people to return to life in society. This means training people up and giving them skills, ranging from courses in manual handling, HACCP, first aid or parenting to barista training in our social enterprise café.

The Caement Community Garden was set up by myself at the side of my workshop. As a member of the defence forces I have seen first hand how important mental health is and it’s something that we soldiers ,sailors ,and airmen are only now starting to realize. Due to the work for both Country and community we are on call 24 hrs a day 7days a week, and during the Covid out break we suffered and some to breaking point. It was because of this that I started the garden and at the moment it only has 13 raised beds with hope for a lot more in the future. Thanks to the management and staff of B&Q Liffey Valley it was made possible. They have been very kind and supplied some tools and plants and above all have been very friendly and provided helpful advice. The garden is non profit , we get no help or funds apart from what B&Q donate to us. The sole purpose of the garden is to promote mental health by caring for a small plot and talking to each other. We have no media connection nor are we partners with any other organization we have no need for volunteers or funding but we could use anything DIY related ie tools plants compost or any gardening items we would be very grateful.
