How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, B&Q has donated products and volunteer time, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Alfie's Arc

Havant, UK

We are a non profit charitable organisation that gives away fresh food to our community. We also deliver 80% of the food we collect to local homeless shelters and assisted living accomodations. We run meet up groups for all to encourage socialisation, inclusion and reduce isolation. We have recently won the 'Action Hampsire's SOUP' April 2024. We currently run from our charity shop which has a 5 star good hygiene rating. We have been promoted by word of mouth and we currently have around 1000 members. We are running on a Facebook page, have a website you can view and are linked to social prescribers from local doctors surgery's within Hampshire so we can refer people on for additional support. We currently collect the surplus food through Fareshare and now neighbourly and hope to expand to items other than food also. We are linked to many charities and organisations such as the local Salvation Army, Two saints, Cogs and SSJ. We are always looking for new organisations and charities with which to work with. We are always looking for more organisations to help out so we can grow bigger and help more people. We work closely with the local job centres, citizens advice and community support policing team.

Motiv8 South

Portsmouth, UK

‘I have grown in confidence. I feel happier. I feel included, I feel positive when I come to the hub sessions. My youth worker has never given up on me and that has made me feel good. I’ve learnt to talk to people instead of keeping it all in.’ Foundations, Flexibility, and Fun Motiv8 is a place based, life-chance charity empowering those often excluded from or missed by other services toward a brighter future. For 25-years we have worked with young people and their families offering long-term lasting support in four of the UK’s most underinvested in communities - Gosport, Fareham, Portsmouth, and Havant. Motiv8 recognises that there are many factors which can lead to instability at home, a person needing support around their emotional health or wellbeing, or place young people and their families at increased risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour or crime. Through welcoming, warm youth hubs, trusted mentoring, empowering skills sessions, and programmes that engage our community we take a person-centred whole family approach. Building what is strong not what is wrong, and providing positive ‘life chances’ allowing all to thrive. With our wards in the top 10% for UK deprivation, ‘Real Poverty’ is the reality for most with 92% of service users are now from socio-economic disadvantage. Against this backdrop acting early and offering the ‘Foundations, Flexibility, and Fun’ that is Motiv8’s trademark to those aged 9-19 has never been more important.  Foundations: Ensuring essential service costs that underpin and enable expert youth work are met;  Flexibility: Empowering teams, trusting their judgement so they can help each individual as a person;  Fun: Delivering activities that families tell us they value & young people share they want to be part of. A best in class youth work provider - recognised nationally by organisations such as Children In Need, Barnardo’s and the National Youth Agency - we are embedded in our communities and committed to individuals. Motiv8's journey of change is a proven model. We keep things simple. With each strengthening the others, our 8 Strands have young people and flexibility at their heart and reinforcing our dedication to a quality whole person approach  Youth Mentoring  Youth Hubs  Youth Health and Wellbeing  Youth Skills  Youth Future  Youth and Family  Youth in Community  Youth Voice and Influence Many organisations offer one or two elements, but few offer all of them, and fewer still offer them all well with a pathway to make the most of each. We are committed to our communities. Motiv8 will always be there with the right support, delivered in the right way, at the right moment.
