North Road is a happy and vibrant small school located in the heart of rural South Gloucestershire. We pride ourselves on offering a unique opportunity to learn and play in a safe, fun and stimulating environment that enables our children to develop a love for learning. We are looking for volunteers to help us create large pieces of woven artwork on our school fences to improve the appearance of our school outdoor area for our pupils.

Monday Lunch Club is held in St. Nix Church, Abbotswood, Yate. We started mid September 2017 and was initially set up so people who attend the friendship and exercise club in the morning could stay on and have a warm, two course meal. The lunch club is open to all in the community and people can just drop in for the meal at 12 noon. The first time someone stays is free, and there is a nominal charge of £2.50 to cover the cost of a bowl of soup with a roll and butter, a dessert and a hot drink. At Christmas and Easter we have a celebration which is free, and all get a small gift and card to mark the occasion. The home made soups are delicious and nutritious, often using produce donated by Marks and Spencer, with any excess donated food put on tables for anyone to take - often a selection of bread, fruit and flowers. We sometimes have other organisations come in to promote the help available in the area. For example, we recently had South Gloucestershire Council come to promote the Stay warm and well' project, and Age UK who gave advise on home safety, arranging free boiler checks and giving out carbon monoxide alarms. Held each Monday except Bank Holidays, the lunch club is run by a small group of volunteers. We are a Local Authority Maintained Nursery School, based across two sites in St Philips Marsh and Barton Hill, Bristol. We provide high quality early years education for children aged 2-5 years. Our values put children and their families at the heart of all we do, with a strong focus on supporting health and wellbeing. We promote healthy eating at our breakfast club and snack times, introducing children to a diverse range of foods. Previously we relied on parent donations of food, however many our families live on low incomes and are now unable to provide these. We now rely on surplus food donations to help supplement our snack times and to provide a free community larder for our families in need of food support. Many of our families live in cramped flats and temporary accommodation, with limited access to play and exercise in safe, inviting indoor and outdoor areas. Therefore, our nursery buildings and gardens are vital to the health, wellbeing and physical development of our children. We are always keen to receive donations of surplus plants, garden items & furniture, tools, interior and exterior decoration items and DIY items. We are also keen for donations of furniture (including used ex-office items) for use in our family support spaces, eg meeting tables & chairs, sofas, soft furnishings, etc.
