True Vine Food Support is a Luton based service that was set up to meet the needs of the vulnerable in our local area. We operate from the local church premises in Park Street, Luton. We are passionate about unsold and surplus food not going to waste so we use it to help our local community. We are open to all members of our local community. We create food parcels for the homeless, vulnerable and low income families. These parcels are free of charge to those who are referred to us by other local charities, low income families with children and others who, after gathering some information, we identify as requiring food support. We believe that surplus food should not be wasted in landfill but given to those in need. We encourage our service users to make the most of the food by giving ideas of meals that could be cooked from the donated foods. We currently collect food from Lidl and Aldi only. Our services users also appreciate the flowers that are available to collect from time to time. An additional service that we provide is recycling donated furniture and children's toys. The service is run by volunteers who sort the food into individual parcels based on the user's needs, man the collection reception and lend a listening ear when needed. Our aim is to support our local community not just with food parcels but with warmth and loving care. Our services are provided free of charge. The collection desk is open every Sunday from 2pm - 4pm, no appointment is needed.

Supporting communities through selfless service The Luton Sikh Soup Kitchen is an organisation sponsored by Guru Nanak Gurdwara Luton. It is a community-based project taken from the concept of ‘LANGAR’ created by the first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Langar is a community kitchen of a gurdwara, which serves meals to all free of charge, regardless of religion, caste, gender, economic status, or ethnicity. People sit on the floor and eat together, and the kitchen is maintained and serviced by Sikh community volunteers. Vision No one should go hungry! Food is the vital first step in helping homeless people towards a better future. Without The Luton Sikh Soup Kitchen many of those that use the service would struggle to afford everyday essentials, like a hot meal. We aim to provide 10,000 hot meals a year, Hot food is a lifeline to our most vulnerable visitors, many of whom suffer from mental illness, physical disability, drug and alcohol misuse, or are rough sleepers. Make a Difference We rely heavily on food donations, and without the help of both local and regional donations, as well as large donators such as the great help we get from local businesses we would not be able to continue to produce the number of meals that we do. We are a very popular and vibrant 3 form entry primary school (90 places per year group) on the Hertfordshire/Luton border. We have invested heavily to ensure that this is a quality learning environment for the children and a wonderful workplace for the whole staff. We are continually developing our culture so that we can embed excellence at all levels. We have approximately 100 children on Free School Meals who we are very happy to give a balanced meal to during school time. These families would be very appreciative of any food they could eat at home both in term time and on half term holidays.
