B&Q Harlow

Our aim is to offer ongoing support through emergency food parcels, basic hygiene essentials and a range of mental and wellbeing support to families, vulnerable adults, schools and the general community struggling to stay afloat. As a grassroots community project we are primarily staffed by local volunteers of diverse groups across the town which makes our services completely free and open to anyone who needs this the extra help. We empower residents to offer their time as volunteers who come together to simply inspire, invigorate and entice others out of their homes to join in various activities, share a coffee through our forums, make new connections and take their minds off worrying - whether young or old, shy or socially awkward, new to the area, retired, divorced, feel restricted, lonely or isolated - our services pride in making our wider user network feel part of the wider community. Since July 2017, we have been able to support over 5k families and delivered well over 12k food parcels both within and beyond Harlow

We want to introduce you to The Food Cabin; we are a charity food hub as part of Norfolk Community Foundation’s Nourishing Norfolk Network, and stock a basic range of essentials. Food Cabin supports many local people just about managing with their household budgets. Based in Dereham we are currently reaching just under 500 people who for numerous reasons are feeling the pinch financially. As part of a holistic care model, one of our primary aims is to signpost users to other services. So far, we signposted 42 members to other services including chronic fatigue support, budgeting courses, Anglian Water priority tariffs, mental health support, and Healthy Start cards. 20% of our current service users are refugees, who are particularly vulnerable and unaware of their rights and entitlements, and we are working with other groups to get these established and provide them with multi-faceted support. Changing Lives is a Non-Profit Community Interest Company that increases physical activity in the community & prevents children from the involvement in anti-social behaviour and gang activity through sports sessions and social enterprise workshops. Our Mission is to offer social, sporting and work experiences that will install confidence and motivation for children providing them with opportunities and pathways towards a positive future.
