Rutland Community Fridges have been running sine October 2020. With 4 locations in Oakham and Uppingham and Greetham, we operate for approx 6 hours a week. We have regular contact with around 70 families each week and have saved over 35 tonnes of food to date July 2024. We are looking to refurbish the Community room that our Oakham Community fridge is situated and would be happy to accept donations of paint and other decorating materials from the B&Q Community Reuse Programme.

Parents of disabled children are often thrust into this new, scary and complicated world with no advice, knowledge or training. Without the right support, the time creating precious family memories loses out to the stresses of everyday life and not knowing what the future holds. Little Miracles is ran by parents, for parents, and we aim to offer what we wish we had during testing times - a shoulder to cry on, pointers in the right direction and people to relate to and socialise with - as well as celebrate the small milestones that mean the world. We offer daily activities from our purpose-built play centre, The Spinney. Our centre was built in September 2013 by the BBC's Children in Need and DIYSOS following a massive outpouring of public support for our cause. In addition to daily activities, we employ specialists that provide their services at no cost to our families (as with all the work that we do) - a family support worker, sensory support worker and counsellors. The services we offer include: Recreational and educational activities for young people Comprehensive benefits assessments (and help completing paperwork) Advocacy Counselling and bereavement counselling Low-cost holidays - Caravan of Miracles Courses/workshops from qualified tutors Early intervention services

We are a charity Pre-school, in a deprived area of Bretton, belonging to the Early Years Alliance. As such, almost all of our families are in receipt of Pre-school Funding to pay for their sessions here. Our records show us which families are eligible for Two Year Funding, which families are eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium Funding, and which families are eligible for Disability Living Allowance. We then help to make sure that they have applied for the funding that they are entitled to. We do our up most to help these families, with donations of clothes, shoes, homewares, food, and suitable toys, which we get from local donations as well as from our own belongings from home. While we give our outstanding support to families we also work hard for our children's development. We help families to get extra support for any children with additional needs, both here at pre-school and as they move into their reception classes, and we help their families to claim Disability Living Allowance to assist them with their day to day needs. We also ask for assistance from Family support workers based at Barnardos for those families who require extra support. We have great communication and connections with our families, and they always come to us for guidance and support, and they will let us know if they are in a time of need. We help every single one of them the best way that we can. This includes being part of the Food Bank Service and issuing Food Bank Vouchers to those families who need them, and volunteering to collect the Neighbourly Food Donations in our own time. We have also continued to offer help through the Neighbourly Donations to families who have left our setting, but are still in need. In addition to this, one of our previous families have also helped to take food from the Neighbourly Donations to a group called 'Helping Hands'. So we are extremely grateful, on behalf of all these local families, for the support that we have greatly received from this amazing cause. We are featured on Daynurseries Website, and our parent's reviews have recently placed us as one of the top 20 settings in our area.
