B&Q Macclesfield

The Whirley School Association (WSA) is a registered charity and is Whirley Primary School’s Parent Teacher Association. The WSA is a very active organisation of volunteers who arrange events throughout the year to raise money to help improve our children’s time at Whirley Primary School. The WSA’s motto is “fun and fund-raising”. The WSA organises a wide range of fund-raising events and activities ranging from discos, fairs, parent band nights, bingo, quiz nights, movie nights and much more and in the 2023-2024 academic year the WSA donated over £8000 for additional school resources. We actively encourage parents and grandparents to get involved as either a member of the committee and / or as a helper at events. Committee meetings are generally held once per month at the school. Our general email address is whirleywsa@gmail.com

The proposed ‘Cre8 Project Grow’ envisions a sustainable, low-cost community food network, accessible neighbourhood green space and local people developing their own community, health & wellbeing activities. Cre8 distributes surplus donated food to young people and their families on the Moss Rose Estate in Macclesfield. Young people help to sort and distribute the food, giving them valuable work experience and life skills. The food is then given out to those in need. We will take any kind of food donations and can safely transport, store and distribute. Please get in touch if you're able to support us.

We are an zero waste group who focus on the following 3 main areas: *Community Gardening and Promotion of Grow Your Own *Recycling Over 35 Hard to Recycle Items *Surplus Food, Community Deli, Clothes and Household Items We support on average 150 people a day with food for free and offer clothes to people in need for free also. People from all backgrounds can access our community shop and no referral is needed. It is for all of our community. Donations are accepted but not mandatory and this is clear to all who visit us. Soon we will be opening our soup kicthen, which will be using our overstock of surplus vegetables.. We offer surplus food from our community shop 6 days a week. We have the first community fridge and freezer in Cheshire East. We also take surplus food from local growers of excess fruits & vegetables. Large litter picks are arranged each month. Money raised all goes back into making more green spaces within our town and surrounding areas, helping the local community, running the Hive and shop where we offer free classes and talks.
