We are a Local Food Pantry for the Haydock and Blackbrook communities. Come along and become a member to reduce your weekly shopping bills, build up the community and help to reduce food waste. For a weekly membership fee of £5 you can have a cuppa in our community café and leave with 10 items from the shelves totaling between £15-£25 value plus some lovley freebies. This is part of T.A.N.G.O. community project (together as neighbours giving out) which runs from ST Mark’s Church Haydock. Whilst you're with us you may like to check out our furniture project and second-hand shop, the amazing space provided by our community garden and the great range of community groups that also meet in our centre, church and warehouse to build up our community and support each other including Brew and renew, a place where its OK not to be ok.

The Brick is a small charity that delivers big results for the community it serves. As its name suggests, it provides a safe, solid building block for people in crisis to begin to construct a new life and become valuable members of society. Since it began life in 2008, The Brick has become a real force for social change in Wigan Borough. The charity’s original aim was to support homeless people and help them make the transition from the streets back into independent living. The Brick’s remit has developed and evolved significantly over the years and it adopts an holistic approach to supporting people in need. The organisation seeks not just to help get people out of crisis but to transforms lives through training and work-experience opportunities that lead to real independence. In a typical week The Brick sees nearly 200 people who need help with issues such as financial hardship, fuel poverty, homelessness and domestic violence. It speaks to more than twice this number over the phone. It delivers 150 food parcels, serves 50 hot lunches and provides training opportunities for more than 30 people. The Brick is seen as an honest broker between its clients and the statutory service providers both in the borough and beyond. Working closely with other public services, The Brick has become a fundamental part of the care and enablement pathway for people in crisis in the borough. The organisation has attracted a diverse range of volunteers who know that in order for the community to thrive, each individual member of that community must thrive. Ultimately, The Brick provides the fresh hope of a brighter future to those who are, for a variety of reasons, struggling with their current circumstances.

For over 50 years, Petrus has supported those at risk of homelessness in Rochdale, Oldham, and Burnley. At our Rochdale Hub, individuals in need can access free meals, drinks, showers, clean clothes, laundry, and personal care amenities. Over 1,000 meals and 100 food parcels are distributed monthly. We assist up to 800 people annually, and our supported housing accommodates over 200 individuals, helping residents build life skills, manage tenancies, and overcome challenges. Partnerships, such as Greater Manchester Housing First and the Women’s Support Alliance, allow us to meet the wider, complex needs of individuals through trauma-informed care and empowerment-focused services. To promote wellbeing, we run inclusive groups and nature-based activities at our community allotment, Petrus Incredible Edible Rochdale. These reduce social isolation and forge friendships. In 2024/2025, Petrus generated over £15 million in social value, showing that addressing homelessness goes beyond bricks and mortar. Together, we will end homelessness and create safe places where all people can flourish.
