Therefore, general health is statistically worse than other districts of the UK, with 23.4% of children being classified as obese by year 6 age and ‘holiday hunger’ being an issue for those children who are provided with free school meals in term time. Many people in Burnley rely on food bank donations and many experience long periods of hunger.
