Burnley Community Kitchen will use food as the catalyst for delivering change in people's lives. Burnley as a town is in the top 20% of deprived districts in the UK, with 2 wards reaching the top 10% of deprived areas nationally. Therefore, general health is statistically worse than other districts of the UK, with 23.4% of children being classified as obese by year 6 age and ‘holiday hunger’ being an issue for those children who are provided with free school meals in term time. Many people in Burnley rely on food bank donations and many experience long periods of hunger.

The James Street Project provides temporary supported accommodation for those who are or at risk of homelessness.

Age UK Lancashire's vision is that everyone is living their best later life, and we work to achieve this by offering services and support to older people (aged 50+), as well as their families and carers, in Lancashire, Blackpool, and North Sefton. Our aims are as follows: • To make a positive difference to the lives of all older people in Lancashire. • To make later life a more fulfilling and enjoyable experience. • To provide effective services to meet locally identified needs. • To support those with long-term conditions to remain as independent as possible • To develop and promote well-being initiatives to help people lead healthy, active lives; and • To ensure older people and their carers are fully informed of their rights and entitlements so that they have choice and control to live independently. • To connect older people to their communities to combat isolation and loneliness These are our current services. Where there is a charge for a service, this is indicated after the brief description: • Scams' Prevention Awareness—support for victims and potential victims of scams, plus awareness-raising. • Energy Advice – support to reduce fuel poverty by maximising income and reducing energy costs. • Dementia Service – help to understand and access the dementia networks, support, and services available. • Cognitive Stimulation Therapy – a programme to improve cognition, independence, and well-being for individuals living with mild to moderate dementia. • Living Well Support Service – short- to medium-term support for adults (18+), both in hospital and at home. • Integrated Care Programme – personalised support for older people living with long-term conditions and who are at risk of recurring, unplanned hospital admissions. • Information and Advice – support with a range of issues, such as claiming benefits, housing, health and care, or local services. • Support at Home—support with cleaning and laundry, shopping, and errands tailored to need. Charges apply—£25.50 an hour. • Day Clubs – opportunities to socialise, learn or relearn skills, and take part in activities. The service is delivered in a small group environment at local centres.
