At Clifton we aim to challenge and support our pupils to do their best academically and ensure that they have access to a wide range of opportunities within the school to support their learning. We would love to create an outdoor space within school where our children can learn without feeling overwhelmed by sensory input or frustrated as sometimes the classroom setting can become difficult for children to process information. This area would be an accessible area with seating that can be used in all weathers, it will have raised beds for sensory planting - a water feature that would offer ambience and sound that would help relax and regulate. Smaller areas designated for den building, playing with sand and water. Lots of plants that children can touch and smell, some of which may even be edible. The sensory garden will enhance their imagination and help our children explore and connect to their surroundings whilst learning. A pergola or canopy area that offers shelter in all weathers - where they can plant, investigate, get creative and explore new challenges. This form of outdoor play and outdoor provision provides numerous physical benefits for children and keeps them engaged and excited to come back to the garden in the future. With the help of the community we could create a beneficial space that stimulates sensory awareness and allow children to experience textures, sights and sounds, they may otherwise not be exposed to. The sensory garden will provide a non-threatening environment which helps to relieve feelings of stress, anger and frustration. The Sensory gardens will benefit children's wellbeing in many ways, including: brain development, cognitive development, cusiosity and social skills which will have a huge impact on wellbeing, resilence and growth. As a school we would welcome any professional volunteers time, equipment, planting beds and plants - all of which help our dream of a sensory garden become a reality. OUR MISSION: To deliver the highest quality construction-based vocational training and support to enable young people and adults to gain skills, qualifications and confidence to enhance their full potential and build a positive future. Preston Vocational Centre (PVC) is a registered charity providing vocational education, training and support to young people across Lancashire. We work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including many who have experienced challenges in mainstream education or face barriers to employment and further learning. For over 17 years, we have helped more than 7,200 learners develop practical skills, gain qualifications and build the confidence needed to progress into apprenticeships, employment and further education. Our programmes include Bricklaying, Plastering, Joinery and Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, Plumbing, and Construction Health and Safety. Our training is delivered through hands-on, practical learning in a supportive environment that promotes personal growth, resilience, teamwork and positive outcomes. As a charity, we greatly benefit from donations of surplus building materials, tools, fixtures, fittings and consumables. Items such as timber, paint, hardware, fixings, decorating supplies, plumbing materials and general DIY products can be used directly within our workshops and student projects. These donations provide learners with valuable real-world experience while helping reduce waste and ensuring we can continue to offer high-quality training opportunities to those who need them most. By supporting PVC, you are helping local people gain the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to build a positive future.
