FRESH START PROJECT CIC – Providing Hope, Safety and Fresh Starts Fresh Start Project CIC provides safe, secure accommodation and person-centred support for homeless men in Stockton-on-Tees, helping them rebuild their lives, regain stability and work towards a more independent future. We currently provide 15 supported accommodation spaces across our Portrack and Westbourne Projects. The men who come to us have many different stories. Some have been released from prison with nowhere suitable to live. Others have experienced relationship breakdowns, mental health challenges, drug or alcohol misuse, financial difficulties, or have found themselves sleeping on the streets. Our referrals come from prisons across the North East, Probation Services and local authority homelessness teams. More Than Somewhere to Sleep At Fresh Start Project CIC, we believe providing a roof is only the beginning. We work with each resident as an individual, helping them access healthcare, register with a GP and dentist, manage Universal Credit and benefits, access food banks and essential items, engage with mental health or drug and alcohol services, develop budgeting and independent-living skills, and build confidence, routine and stability. Our aim is to help each man take positive steps towards greater independence and a more secure future. People, Not Labels Homelessness can happen for many reasons. A relationship can break down. Someone can leave prison with nowhere to go. Mental health can deteriorate. Drug or alcohol misuse can take hold. Financial circumstances can change. Fresh Start Project CIC doesn't judge someone by where they've been. We work with them on where they want to go next. The men we support are not statistics. They are fathers, sons, brothers and members of our community who deserve dignity, support and another opportunity. What Support Do We Need? Many of our residents arrive at Fresh Start Project CIC with very little and live on extremely low incomes. Some rely on food banks and donations, particularly while waiting for Universal Credit or trying to make a monthly payment stretch. We are incredibly grateful for support with surplus food, toiletries, men's clothing, bedding, household essentials and other practical donations that can directly benefit our residents. We also welcome opportunities to work with local businesses, organisations and volunteers who share our commitment to helping people rebuild their lives. Something as simple as a meal, clean bedding or essential toiletries can make a genuine difference to someone starting again. These things don't just meet a practical need – they provide dignity, stability and show someone that their community cares. We are a large community centre in the heart of Winlaton. Run by the community for the community. The centre is run by volunteers. We provide emergency food and access to Free food at 2 markets each week. Our charity collect surplus food from local supermarkets (Marks & Spencer, The Co-op and Tesco) which may be past its best before date and which would usually end up as waste, we sort and offer it to our local community. The produce is also used to make healthy and nutritious meals for our lunch clubs and to give out to local people in need. WE also offer a variety of classes and clubs, sport and fitness, parent and toddler groups, lunch clubs for older people and access to professional services. Registered charity 1160323

The majority of people who live with us at Tyne have experienced complex issues in their lives and often come to us after being excluded from other housing options due to their lifestyle, offending history or difficulties in managing finances. Most residents have experienced periods of homelessness or unstable housing and struggle with multiple social and health issues relating to addiction and mental wellbeing. We have over 360 bed-spaces made up of shared houses, specialist supported provisions, smaller shared flats and self-contained flats. Our housing model is always designed to focus on the individual's own personal needs, meeting them where they are, building a trusting relationship and working together in partnership to get to a better place. Our work is far-reaching and varied, we stand by and support people who many agencies struggle to engage with, focusing on building their strengths to help them take ownership of the challenges ahead. The unique range of services we provide means we’re constantly learning and evolving, ensuring we’re engaging with models and theories that truly work. The impact report produced this year is helping us to do just that, alongside providing us with the tools we need to measure our success going forward. Byker Bridge House is our emergency accommodation provision in Newcastle. It’s staffed 24/7 by a team of specialist housing and support workers and offers 31 short-term bed spaces to adults facing homelessness across the city. People who come to Byker Bridge House tend to be at crisis point and are referred to us from services such as prison, probation or hospital via Newcastle City Council’s Housing Advice Centre. Residents are often experiencing complex issues relating to drug and alcohol abuse, mental health issues and anti-social behaviour. Byker Bridge House exists to provide people with safety and security with a roof over their heads and access to food and drink, warmth and rest.
