B&Q Darlington

King's Foodbank is a Christian Charity that is part of King's Church Darlington, located at The King's Centre, Whessoe Road. Individuals and families who are experiencing food poverty and have been referred by the local authority and other support agencies can come to the Centre for emergency food bags as well as other essential items for personal hygiene, laundry and even pet food. We are open on Mondays and Thursdays for people to collect their food bags, where staff and volunteers provide a warm, welcoming space and can offer support to access other agencies for help with budgeting, housing and access to welfare benefits. People who are in financial difficulties because of unemployment, low incomes, who are single parents, ex offenders, victims of domestic abuse, experiencing poor physical or mental health or newly arrived in the area as asylum seekers or refugees can benefit from our services. We understand that many are struggling with the current cost of energy and food and how the proposed cuts to welfare benefits may be creating anxiety for those who are already vulnerable and disadvantaged and it is our passion and our aim to serve anyone in need, whatever their age, ethnicity, faith or conditions of life. We are always in need of non-perishable food, fresh produce, bread and UHT Milk, clothing, toiletries, bedding, pet food and baby products. We are extremely grateful for every donation that we receive and for the heart and kindness of everyone who donates and we could not deliver this vital support without support from local businesses, supermarkets and the public.

To promote for the public benefit, urban or rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation within the area. to advance public education in environmental matters to promote the conservation, protections and improvement of physical and natural environment within the area

We help out people in our community where and how we can we are run by all volunteers we have coffee mornings, craft afternoon free food ect We raise money to use for our local community eg paid for a garden shed for a local residential home x Bought trees and benches for a memorial to people who dies during covid and we are maintaining the gardens around the hub we have put in minions made with tyres and a wild life garden area a Herb garden lots of new plants and plants donated by residents We do events to raise money for various charities The hub is also used by other charities when they need it free of charge the link on a Tuesday which is a cafe run by people with learning difficulties they make various meals for the day themselves and sell them to the locals who come to the hub . We have the bread and butter thing on a Thursday which anyone can joint register and then pay 7.50 a week and get bags of food . We do breakfasts on a wed morning which residents from our local residential homes come and join us for at a locust breakfast with local residents too a craft club on the afternoon bring your own crafts and have a cuppa and a chat Family help use the hub too and we support them with anything they might need where we can We have kids club during the school holidays. We try to help people that need things for there homes like decorating bits or furniture ect we put out sos for anyone to drop stuff they don’t need and reuse to others that need it x We try to accommodate any requests that people have where we can as to what they need weather it be good clothing bedding kids toys furniture ect
