Woodhill ELC is situated in Kirkmuirhill, South Lanarkshire. It is part of the South Lanarkshire Council district and is well known for its success and popularity with carers and children alike. We here at Woodhill strive to provide the best care, support and learning opportunities for our children, as we understand the importance at such an early level of their development. Woodhill ELC is open all year round, from 8am till 6pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays and in-service days. We can accommodate up to 15 toddlers and 48 3-5's per session throughout each week, offering a variety of placement patterns, depending on parental wishes and availability. Through the community support from the B&Q team we would hope to build play spaces for children and their families to access using real kitchen, units, sinks, pallets and wood, this would allow the children the opportunity to have a home from home environment and express their needs through role play and drama. We would hope to create a construction area with real benches, tools, and construction materials including, wood, bricks, nuts and bolts, screws, pipes, logs etc. This would allow the children to develop their skills and abilities to become creative using real life materials. Lastly we aim to create a loose parts play station with pallets, logs, pipes, sticks, stones, wood, rocks, cardboard boxes, material, pegs, slate, tiles, cuttings of flooring, nuts and bolts, tubing, funnels, masking tape, duct tape and other building materials for children to learn to the skills to create objects, express their feelings through play, and learn to manage and take risks. The nursery aims to set up links with the local and wider community, being successful for the B&Q funding would be a great starting point. The resources supplied would be multi purpose and would enhance children's learning and development, in particular those that have will not have opportunities like this in their life time. The nursery have links with local community, having these resources would allow the children and members within the community the ability to have sustained shared thinking through using real resources that are open ended. The Scottish Government have the aim to raise attainment and bridge the attainment gap through providing the best quality of learning and care for children and to make Scotland the best place for children to grow up. By enhancing wider community links with B&Q this would facilitate the need for resources to allow children to develop their skills and abilities and to promote partnership working within the Early Learning and Childcare Setting.

Baillieston Community Garden is situated behind Iceland stores car park off Main Street. It was born out of the Covid pandemic lockdown restrictions to get the community involved in working together but at a distance to reduce social isolation and get people involve in volunteering opportunities in their local community. We are looking to develop the old City Councils demonstration garden into a useable site for local people to come together with friends, relatives etc to make memories and enjoy nature on their doorstep.
