Newton Primary is a school in an area where many individuals and families face daily challenges. We support families by providing food shopping list items, clothing (new and nearly new), kitchen utensils and household goods, bedding and energy top ups. We also support our families and those in the community by helping them access advice from various agencies eg income maximisation, smoking cessation, local charities and employability. Our shopping list is updated weekly on our school app and families ask for what they need. We have an open door once a week for bags and lunch, during this time members of the community come and get food, etc from our store.

Kincaidston Community centre, helps families with food and health and well-being as well as peoples mental health, During the pandemic the local area had a gas explosion, and we found that there were families struggling to make ends meet. The centre set up a local food larder where people can come and get help with food and daily essentials to help support families that are struggling during theses tuff times, the centre helps to reduce food waste in regards to making hot food for anyone to come along and get a hot meal and a cup of tea and a chat to all of our volunteers.

To further provide for our school community to ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Families are supported through our collections on a Wednesday and Friday mornings. Items can be collected form the school playground, free of charge. We collect from Marks and Spencer. Please see our X page or website for more information about the school. We feature our partnership with M&S and Neighbourly regularly in our school newsletters. We are developing our outdoor play based learning environment and are looking for pallets, building materials e.g. pipes, guttering and wood, hardware as in bolts, nuts, handles, locks, padlocks etc as well outdoor / gardening equipment.
