The Rainbow Centre has been supporting vulnerable people in Scarborough for almost 28 years, helping the homeless as well as those in crisis. The Centre offers a variety of essential services including: a foodbank, homeless day centre, community café, hot showers, laundry facilities, access to clothing, toiletries, and bedding, start-up packs for new homes, and a debt advice service. Last year we made around 33,000 critical interventions, offering assistance to vulnerable people in there time of need.

Having a sight impairment can be daunting, in fact, statistics show you are one of almost two million people in the UK who live with sight loss – that’s around one in thirty people! As a CIO for people with sight impairment, we at YCSS pride ourselves with our great intentions, fantastic results, and ongoing support. Our support is slowly but surely making living with impaired sight more manageable. We offer support in Scarborough, Whitby and Filey Surplus food donations collected from Scarborough Marks and Spencer & Tesco are distributed free to our members or used to provide lunch to the members attending our social groups.
