An oasis of calm in the city, a remarkable range of wildlife and an amazing group of volunteers who work tirelessly to clear the river and parkland of the detritus of society-especially plastic litter which threatens the natural environment. With the River Frome meandering through our park and a serpentine lake at it's heart, this space means so much to the local community and especially to the wide range of wildlife that calls it home. Our aim is to encourage and educate through events and activity sessions a responsible and caring attitude for this precious environment and to involve people of all ages to contribute to the well being and preservation of this wonderful green space. Our activities range includes litter picking, wildlife education, wildflower meadow creation and bee and insect friendly planting to contribute to the protection and survival of the park ecology while at the same time supporting a well loved and much visited local amenity. Through our practical and educational work, we aim to inspire and motivate the local population to join us in our efforts to build a lasting legacy for generations to come. This award will enable us to provide materials for our outreach programme as well as fund targeted planting programmes which enrich the ecosystem we're all part of. We'll also have a little left over to purchase some of the tools we need to carry out the more practical side of our work!
