Omnibus Theatre

London, UK

Omnibus Theatre is an award-winning venue in London, established in 2013. Before Omnibus Theatre, there was no arts provision in our local area. A seven-year community campaign led by our Chairman George Owen raised £130,000 to protect the old library site from commercial developers and convinced Lambeth Council that an arts venue was of paramount importance for the area. As Clapham's local theatre, we are incredibly proud to be part of the fabric of our neighbourhood. At the moment, certain places around our building are underused or neglected. We want to improve these spaces, making the entire building (indoors and outdoors) a welcoming place for everyone in the community, as well as our staff team. We currently need a handful of friendly, creative volunteers to help us out with refreshing some of our building's spaces. Ongoing tasks include: - Tidying and sorting out outdoor storage shed - Tidying and sorting out basement storage - Washing the ground floor windows We also have some tasks which may require specialist skills - Optimising our IT equipment and our Wordpress website

Camden Foodbank

London, UK

Camden has a significant number of homeless people combined with a generally high turnover and transient population. Demand on the foodbank is rising steeply, and we have seen a tenfold increase in clients since 2012/13 (to 3188 clients supported in 2015/16). Food is donated by the public and sorted by volunteers, while frontline care professionals (e.g. social workers, police, GPs and teachers) issue food vouchers to people in crisis, which they can exchange for several days’ worth of nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food, along with a friendly cup of tea. We also signpost people to further sources of help.
