Little Princess Trust
Hereford, UK
The Little Princess Trust is a charity based in Hereford, supplying real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses. Each real hair wig costs the charity around £500. However, over and above the purchased wigs, the charity also supplies wigs made from hair which is donated to us by our amazing supporters! Sometimes people also send us sponsorship monies, too. Around 10 hair donations are required to make a single wig. Whilst the charity can accept slightly shorter hair donations, we are currently in need of longer donations in order to make longer length wigs. We would love to receive more hair donations which are a minimum of 10 inches/25 cm long. Since its inception, the Trust has given away over 5,500 wigs to children and young adults; a number which increases every day. It has also awarded research grants of over £1,200,000 to projects focussing on finding causes of - and cures for - children’s cancer, as well as developing less toxic treatments for paediatric cancers. For income, the Little Princess Trust relies solely on the enthusiastic efforts of individuals, groups, and businesses. The charity receives no formal funding and therefore gratefully receives financial contributions from supporters. The charity’s most famous hair donor is pop idol Harry Styles who chopped off his luscious locks and donated them to the charity in 2016. In 2017, the Little Princess Trust received wonderful support from TOWIE’s Mario Falcone who also donated his hair, as well as model and actress Lily Cole and model and DJ Amber Le Bon.
