Knaphill Community Fridge, wasting less through the sharing of good quality food

Woking, UK

Food & drink saved at Knaphill Community Fridge 2025 is 80,223 kilos! Thank you for supporting us throughout the year. A Community Fridge is a fridge into which anyone can put food, and from which anyone can take food. It will aim to utilise the redundant source of food in Knaphill, Brookwood and surrounding area whilst raising awareness of food waste issues and the impact on the environment. It will enable us to share our abundance, minimise waste and source free food that would otherwise be thrown away. It helps us support local businesses by collecting their surplus food and making available to the community. The average UK family wastes £470 a year by throwing away food and drink which could have been eaten, and £3 billion is wasted by food sectors. Despite growing awareness of food waste, there are few easy ways for people or businesses to get food near its 'sell by' date to others. (Source:Hubbub)
