We are honoured to support the great work that Rowan School do. We are tireless in our commitment to raise funds but there is always more that could be done to help in our mission of ensuring each child can develop to be the best they can be. Due to growing pressures in school funding and constraints in schools budgets we have focused on enhancing the school's existing outdoor areas. Over the past few years we have worked hard to raise funds to provide necessary resources that the school would otherwise not have been able to provide. For example we have funded the installation of:- a woodland log cabin that is a space for learning a polytunnel where children learn about healthy lifestyles and growing foods a yurt to provide opportunities to prepare and develop skills for independent living. We have recently developed two outdoor shelters linking classrooms to the playground. Children with Autism often find transitions to different spaces difficult. Providing a through provision enables a smoother flow from inside to outside. Pupils show sensory sensitivities in classrooms, finding certain background sounds and noises unbearably loud or distracting. Learning in outdoor space helps relief some of these anxieties and improves engagement and learning. We are now seeking funding to resource these two outdoor shelters in order to create exciting learning environments for our younger pupils with special needs to learn and play in a safe, stimulating environment. The shelters are built but they are empty shells until we can raise further funds.
