Serving Eastbourne's most vulnerable people
Eastbourne, UK
Open Monday-Friday, our Drop-in Centre offers a friendly, warm, and non-judgemental welcome to vulnerable people: e.g. the homeless, unemployed, bereaved, lonely, those suffering from mental health issues, or struggling with various addictions, ex-offenders etc. As well as offering an unconditional welcome, and a safe environment, we offer hot food daily, warm clothing and other essentials. Our volunteers are also available to get alongside guests with practical help and support to assist people to get their lives back on track. Various activities (eg art club, exercise activities, table top games, and our herb & vegetable garden) give further opportunities for our guests to be stimulated, and hopefully leave with a more positive and hopeful attitude. We sometimes find employment, accommodation, work with guests towards access to children, and offer advocacy support at interviews and hearings with various agencies. Sometimes folk referred because of suicidal tendencies are helped towards a more positive position, and some even end up volunteering with us: thus enhancing their CV and future work opportunities.
