Pilgrims Hospices Canterbury

Canterbury, UK

Pilgrims Hospices was established in 1982 to provide medical care and support to people who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness. Alongside the best in medical care we also provide emotional and practical support to carers, family members and friends. As an independent charity our work is dependent on the generosity of our supporters. Our running costs for the current financial year will be around £14m. We receive a small discretionary budget of 23% from the NHS but this leaves a shortfall of nearly £11m to find from fundraising. Pilgrims Hospices work around the clock, every day of the year and your support is vital for our work to continue.

Cheer for Porchlight

Canterbury, UK

Working across Kent and the south east, we help vulnerable and isolated people get support with their mental health, housing, education and employment. We provide children, young people and adults with the advice, guidance and skills to live independently in the future, play an active role in their local community and fulfil their potential. We support around 5000 people a year, but homelessness is on the rise. The number of rough sleepers we're working with in Kent has increased five-fold, rising from 148 people in 2012 to 707 last year. This year that total is expected to reach 1,000. In order for our work to continue and for us to help as many people as possible we are relying on support from the local community, and companies like Starbucks. For more information please visit www.porchlight.org.uk If you would like to do your bit for the homeless this winter, then please Cheer for Porchlight! We are really grateful for your support.
