Carers Activity Fund
Wellingborough, UK
Carers can be anyone and anyone can become a carer at any time. Three in five people will be carers at some point in their lives. Like all of us carers benefit from time away from the stresses of life and to meet others with shared experiences. According to a Carers UK survey carers with large caring roles are more likely to be in ill-health as a result, including mental health deterioration and higher risk of stroke. This demonstrates the higher need of carers to get a break from caring. We will offer a carers a range of activities to suit their individual needs. We will provide group support during the early stages of a dementia diagnosis in the family, this will enable carers or potential carers to receive timely advice and be linked into ongoing support when needed. We will run activities for carers which will allow them time away from caring to socialise and learn a new skill. We will provide a volunteer sitting service that gives carers a few hours to themselves.
