Norwich FoodHub

Norwich, UK

To volunteer please go to https://10to8.com/book/norwichfoodhub/ A group of people passionate about making a positive difference within our local community and the environment, we formed with the dual aims of tackling food waste and food poverty in our city. To achieve these aims we are collecting surplus fruit, vegetables and bakery items from food retailers, bringing them to our centrally located unit for sorting and storage, before redistributing to organisations helping people in food poverty. To operate we need volunteers who share in our aims to help in both food collections and food redistributions. You can volunteer by signing up to a 'Food Collection' or 'Food Redistribution' event on the 'Volunteering' section of our Neighbourly page. As a 'Food Collection' volunteer with us you will: - Collect food from retailers at specified times using either your own vehicle or our bikes with trailers - Weigh, sort and store food at our unit - Complete records on food collected As a 'Food Redistribution' volunteer with us you will: - Pick food for redistribution - Redistribute food to partner organisations helping people suffering from food poverty using either your own vehicle or our bikes with trailers - Complete records on food redistributed All volunteers will receive training on basic food safety compliance and our food management system. We also require a photo of each volunteer in order to provide you with your own FoodHub ID for use in collections and redistributions.
