Did you know that 84% of disabled children go without regular access to play? Challengers works to change this by providing play and leisure schemes for disabled children and young people aged 2-18. We make it possible for any child, with any impairment to access essential play opportunities, helping them to develop vital skills such a confidence, co-ordination and communication. Whether it's messy arts day, a drumming workshop or a visit from the mobile farm there's always lots going on for children to take part in. Each year we support over 750 children and their families. Our work also provides a vital short break to families who are often exhausted from the demands of caring. Parents often describe Challengers as a lifeline and say that without such support family life would be likely to break down.

The Samson Centre for MS focuses on maintaining and/or improving the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis., a disease of the central nervous system for which there is currently no known cure. Our Movement Programme is dedicated to promoting physical well-being through the delivery of five core projects. One of those projects is our 'Standing on Our Own Two Feet' project which sees us work with people living with MS in the advanced or advancing stages of MS who are unable to stand up without assistance. The project is supported by trained physiotherapists and the use of electric standing frames and aims to combat joint stiffness, stretch and strengthen muscles and ease side effects that are often brought about by the prolonged use of a wheelchair or an inability to fully extend limbs. 'Standing on Our Own Two Feet; costs around £20,000 per annum. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations to run this project.

halow project is a registered charity providing opportunities and support adults with a learning disability to access social activities, community based learning and work like experiences. The young people we work with are aged 16+ and want the opportunity to: Build relationships Become part of the community Find meaningful employment Have a home of their own Overall, halow aims to ensure that every person with a learning disability has the same life choices and chances as any other person. We have four core, community-based programmes which provide a unique blend of activities. Through these services we aim to give our young people the chance to enjoy an active social life, make new friends, as well as find further educational and employment training.
