Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life. By providing specialist nursing care and emotional support we help families smile again when life couldn’t get any tougher

Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to helping anyone in our local community that are affected by unemployment, low-income, domestic abuse, relationship breakdown, low self-esteem, disability and mental health issues. Hospice care is not just a building, it is a way of caring for people. Our care aims to improve the lives of people whose illness may not be curable. We help people to live as actively as possible after diagnosis to the end of their lives, however long that might be. We place the highest value on respect and choice. Our team of doctor's, nurses and other professional staff provide specialist care and support for local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, we consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement. We provide care throughout a patient's illness, so they achieve the best possible quality of life. This includes end of life care, helping them to achieve a good death incorporating four key principles: respect, time to plan, care and support. We're a charity mainly funded by local people. Together we need to raise around £3.2 million a year to continue to provide our services for free.
