Broadwater Carnival Society

Worthing, UK

As a group of local people and together with our colleagues at Worthing Fire Station we organise an annual event on Broadwater Green and at the Fire Station to raise funds for local good causes and the fire fighters charity. We invite charities and good causes each year to be considered for a donation from funds raised. The past few years the sum raised has been around £10,000.per year. On the day we have upwards of 150 stalls including charities, local groups such as the girlguides, sea cadets, cancer support and the local hospice who bring awareness and raise funds for their own needs. We also invite local business to highlight their services. It is a great community event with local groups entertaining the crowds with dancing and singing. At the Fire Station demonstrations take place highlighting safety awareness re fires and accident and they are joined by police and ambulance services. We would use any donation to pay for things such as a programme, road closures to keep the public safe and this coming year we would like to have an event mascot. Any remaining funds would go into the pot for distribution to our selected charities. We would welcome input from our local Starbucks store. We have a good relationship with them and They do support us locally with fund raising events that take place during the year. A donation of £1k would make you our biggest sponsors and as such we would be pleased to advertise that fact in our local community

Equine Partners CIC

Wisborough Green, UK

Equine Assisted Learning Centre in Wisborough Green, West Sussex. By using the horses we can help people learn to cope with what life has thrown at them. Development and ethical practice are important to us, so we work as EAGALA-certified equine assisted learning practitioners (www.eagala.org) to ensure that we provide high-quality sessions and offer a solutions-focused approach to therapy. We work with children and families who are struggling to cope with day-to-day life, be this due to bereavement, relationship breakdown, or health-related issues, we aim to offer a solutions-focused approach to life's problems. Applying horses in a therapeutic context offers a non-judgmental situation, and the animals provide their own clear feedback on what they are faced with! Families become more settled, enabling children to continue their education and have brighter futures. Following sessions with us, children have succeeded in mainstream school when previously they were not attending at all. Others have self-assessed and recognised that they are better able to manage their emotions. Families have stated that they live a more harmonious home life and are able to resolve issues within the family unit successfully. As many people struggle in a traditional therapeutic environment, we hope to continue providing a non-judgmental service, growing to support as many people as possible, and to help families stay together and thrive.
