Lymphoma Action is the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the most common cancer in 15-24-year olds ‘and the UK’s fifth most common cancer. We’ve been providing in-depth, expert information and wide-ranging support for over 30 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma. Our work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment, and aftercare of lymphoma. We inform people with trusted information, endorsed by medical experts, to help and empower them to fully understand the complexities of lymphoma. We support people affected by lymphoma at every step, providing advice and reassurance tailored to their individual experience. From symptom awareness through diagnosis, treatment and beyond, we’re here to help. We also support doctors and nurses to deliver the best possible treatment and care. We connect people to leading lymphoma expertise, and to those going through a similar experience, to make sure they are not alone.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Spinfield School, on Terrington Hill in Marlow. Since September 1975 the school has provided the children of North West Marlow with supportive care and an outstanding education. Many current students are the children of parents and grandparents who were pupils of the past and, for four decades, children have moved confidently on to secondary school having made friends for life, armed with the skills to face future challenges and carrying many happy Spinfield memories. To celebrate the success of the school, plus the staff and the pupils of today and yesteryear, the parents of Spinfield have launched a special project to create an inspirational, eco-friendly, fun and funky space where pupils can benefit from nature and the environment to further their learning and expand their creativity. The Spinfield Eco Pod will support current pupils and the local community. It will sit in the grounds of the school, overlooking the playing fields and nature trail. The vision is for an environmentally-friendly timber structure flooded with light and benefiting from large glass bi-folding doors to bring the outdoors in. The new space will be modern in design with multiple uses including music lessons, the arts, sports events, nature-watching, a breakout room and a place for reflecting, imagining and creating. The building itself will also be a scientific and environmental learning tool. With a solar panels and eco-learning tools, our scientists and eco-warriors of the future can monitor and report on the energy and efficiency created by the building itself. The sustainable structure will enable the children to harvest rainwater, plant and grow food, study wildlife and actively be part of the sustainability knowledge process. In addition it is hoped the quiet, calming nature of the building, with open views onto peaceful surroundings, will make it ideal for specific support work, away from the hubbub of the main school building, for children with special physical, educational or emotional needs.
