No matter how you have lost your sight, and at whatever stage of life you have experienced sight loss, we are here to offer support and advice. For more than 165 years, Insight Gloucestershire has been supporting local blind and partially sighted people. We provide timely and appropriate support services for all people affected by sight loss in Gloucestershire, along with their families and friends. Our aim is to ensure people with sight loss in the county are able to lead active, independent and fulfilled lives. As a charity, we work across the county of Gloucestershire. We have a low vision resource centre in Cheltenham. We also regularly run local advice hubs and social groups in towns across the county where clients can access information, advice and guidance.

Close House is a youth centre in Hereford City. We provide a safe drop-in social space for young people aged 11-25, during the afternoons. Many young people will spend their early evenings hanging around outside McDonalds or Subway in town, getting into trouble and at risk of dangerous behaviours and dangerous people. We will extend our opening hours, and provide food that is healthier and more affordable than fast food, and because of the friendly and supportive atmosphere and activities available, teenagers can come for a few hours of harmless fun in a safe environment. The project will focus on including young people in the planning and preparation of meals, as well as eating together and clearing up. This holistic approach means that the mealtime experience meets so many more needs than just providing nutrition, but will give social skills, time for reflection and planning, mentoring, hygiene and personal development, diet, budgeting and communication skills. We have experienced and trained youth workers who support young people to get the best out of their family situation, their education and their community, so that these teenagers have the best opportunity to reach their full potential.

St Michael's offers a number of different services to help patients and their families: -Dedicated medical and nursing teams provide high quality care around the clock in our In-Patient Unit, and to those using our Out-Patient services; - the Family Support Team works to support patients with their emotional, spiritual and social needs, and plays a vital role in supporting family and friends; - Complementary Therapists add a further dimension to the care and support St Michael’s Hospice is able to offer. Living with a life-limiting illness can affect a person in many different ways; from physical changes to their body, changes to their relationships and lifestyle, differences in their self-esteem and confidence and possible loss of independence. The multi-disciplinary team at St Michael's Hospice work together to help patients and their families adjust to the inevitable changes that life-limiting illnesses bring; our doctors and nurses help to relieve symptoms and control pain; physiotherapists and occupational therapists work with patients and carers to find techniques to remain living independently; other professionals are able to assist with worries about money or housing, offer spiritual guidance and support with emotional upheaval.
