We believe that military veterans are the civilian communities greatest asset. Our life enhancing, totally inclusive, educative and advocacy driven research projects promote inclusion and facilitate the learning of new skills and systemic change. We actively promote bespoke activities that enhance mental and physical wellbeing. Our best in class ‘trauma informed’ interventions improve the quality of life of all those that access our support service by rekindling citizenship. RESEARCH - EDUCATION - ADVOCACY- SUPPORT For the last ten years Forward Assist has been busy developing an innovative ‘Theory of Change for Veterans’. All Forward Assists projects and interventions are based upon the core Social Work values of service; social justice, dignity, self determination, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. When necessary we will care coordinate services so that veterans and their families can access none judgmental help and support. Working with the whole Armed Forces Community we can guide, signpost and advocate as veterans navigate the best support available to them.

Saras 400 Capital Appeal

Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

Saras Hope Foundation is a small North East based charity which was set up in 2007 in memory of Sara Hoburn who lost her battle with cancer in 2001 at 16 years old. Founded by Sara’s parents, the charity was officially launched and registered in 2008. The team work tirelessly to raise the funds and the profile of the charity so it is able to meet its main objective which is to manage a holiday retreat in Crete offering respite for the families of young people affected by cancer. Since June 2011 over 70 children and their families have visited Sara’s Retreat or will be going in the coming months. It is our mission to give families affected by cancer a much needed break from long hospital stays, traumatic medical procedures and cancer related treatments so that they may spend quality time together recuperating and enjoying life as a ‘normal’ family, strengthening relationships and creating lasting happy memories. As cancer affects families financially as well as physically and emotionally, Saras Hope Foundation offers a holiday break free from financial burden or stress. We are currently renting the villas over in Crete our overall aim is to raise enough capital to be able to purchase these properties by the end of the appeal in March 2017 to enable us to continue our work.
