Forward Assist - Military Veterans Charity

Cramlington, UK

We believe that military veterans are the civilian communities greatest asset. Our life enhancing, totally inclusive, educative and advocacy driven research projects promote inclusion and facilitate the learning of new skills and systemic change. We actively promote bespoke activities that enhance mental and physical wellbeing. Our best in class ‘trauma informed’ interventions improve the quality of life of all those that access our support service by rekindling citizenship. RESEARCH - EDUCATION - ADVOCACY- SUPPORT For the last ten years Forward Assist has been busy developing an innovative ‘Theory of Change for Veterans’. All Forward Assists projects and interventions are based upon the core Social Work values of service; social justice, dignity, self determination, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. When necessary we will care coordinate services so that veterans and their families can access none judgmental help and support. Working with the whole Armed Forces Community we can guide, signpost and advocate as veterans navigate the best support available to them.

Metro Radio Cash for Kids Mission Christmas

Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

Cash for Kids is a local charity and it is our mission to support local children who are disabled, disadvantaged, sick, or suffering from abuse or neglect, from the ages of 0-18. All the funds for the charity are raised locally and redistributed locally to individuals, families and other charities dedicated to improving the lives of young people. We are proud to operate an 80% contribution across the UK, with clear visibility on where the money goes and who it is helping. However, our last audit showed that our contribution in the North East was much higher with at least 92 pence in every pound donated going directly to the children we help to support. Every Christmas Cash for Kids makes it their mission to help ensure that thousands of local children wake up to a present on Christmas morning who would otherwise be forgotten. Last year here in our region Metro Radio’s Cash for Kids secured gifts for over 45,000 children who normally receive nothing at Christmas, we gave them the Christmas spirit and belief they have been longing for. The children that we help are often living in desperate conditions, suffering from dire poverty, living in care or refuges, suffering from neglect, recovering from abuse or ill-treatment or those with disabilities who require specialist toys to improve their well-being. During Mission Christmas we collect toys and also raise funds. These funds are used both to purchase specialist gifts such as sensory equipment for children with disabilities, and also to purchase gifts for age groups where we are lacking in donations. Cash for Kids want to make sure that every child experiences the magic of Christmas, and wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning.
