Diabetes UK Shrewsbury Kids Group

Shrewsbury, UK

Shrewsbury Kids Diabetes UK Group (previously known as S.K.I.D. - Shrewsbury Kids Insulin Dependent) was initially set up in 2005 and was formerly set up as a charity affiliated to Diabetes UK in 2007/08 allowing the group to fundraise to support various activities provided each year. We meet four times a year as a committee and these meetings are important to plan events and fundraising but they can be, in themselves, an opportunity to chat and discuss some of the frustrations, sadness or successes you may be facing in caring for a child or children with Type 1 diabetes. Past activities have only been possible by the very generous donations we have received and fundraising events people have supported. Most recently we had donations from people taking part in half marathons and a 13 mile family bike ride around Lake Vyrnwy. We need to continuously raise money if we are to maintain our aims of organising events during 2016 and ongoing. This is where we need your help! We have a planned PGL trip in 2016 which can only happen with funds raised from wider communities. The PGL trip in itself is a way in which children with Type 1 diabetes can get together, build confidence and talk about their thoughts and feelings about managing their lifelong, 24hr condition.
