"Supporting" Uncommon Cancers

Leamington Spa, UK

Having any cancer can feel lonely and isolating at times, this can seem especially so when you have an uncommon cancer, that few have heard of. The NET Patient Foundation is the only charity in the UK dedicated to providing support and information to people affected by neuroendocrine cancers. The NET Patient Foundation was formed at the start of 2006 and has Charity Commission status. The Foundation has the following aims: To provide support, education and information to anyone affected by neuroendocrine cancers. To advocate for neuroendocrine cancer patients so they may achieve the best possible outcomes. To encourage standardised care for all NET cancer patients. To provide community supportive care to patients and their carers or family members. To raise awareness of NET cancers throughout the UK. To raise funds for clinical and translational research projects. Patients need supporting through diagnosis and treatment. Neuroendocrine cancers are complex and unpredictable and the impact NETs can have on someones life and emotions, although may vary, will certainly be challenging. Living with a neuroendocrine cancer can feel like an emotional rollercoaster ride and we need to support people in the fight to gain a sense of control. Having dedicated free psychotherapy support, will be one step closer to meeting this unmet need in our patient community.

Leamington Lions Girls Football Club

Leamington Spa, UK

Leamington Lions Girls FC provide a safe, positive and fun environment for girls in Warwickshire to play football. We have teams ranging from under 10s up to open age (Ladies playing in step 3 of the womans football pyramid) and we want to continue to grow. To provide the girls with age specific skills & education, while making it fun, requires investment in both education to coaches (who all give their time free to the football club) as well as equipment such as balls, bibs, cones & football kit. We're the biggest girls only club in the area, however, we want to continue to grow, and offer the new age groups the opportunity to play football. The football club doesn't only coach football, it gives life skills, eg communication, positivity, problem solving, but also teaches important lessons such as respect, working as a team & togetherness.
