Candid Arts Trust is based at the Candid Arts Centre in Islington, London. Our centre is located in two Victorian warehouses which equals 23,000 square feet in total and offers 6,500 square feet of loft style exhibition space, 20 artists studios, film screening rooms, rehearsal spaces, a banquet room that can be hired for private functions as well as a café with outside courtyard. We're here to promote the arts and arts education, focusing on helping newly graduated artists and designers in their first years out of college. Candid showcases artists' work in specially organised exhibitions throughout the year and acts as an intermediary between artists and designers wishing to sell their work and clients looking to purchase new works. Our events include The Angel Christmas Fair as well as various group shows and film screenings throughout the year. We also host a number of College Degree Shows and solo and group exhibitions. Over the past few years Candid Arts Trust has developed an educational programme that includes a variety of painting and drawing classes and workshops.

Founded in 1911, UK Youth provides young people aged 9-25 with high quality services, delivered through a network of locally accessible youth organisations across the UK. Together we offer support, advice and training to over 830,000 young people to equip them with vital life skills and help them engage in education, volunteering and employment. Our mission is to provide access to appropriate, high quality services for young people in every community so that all young people are empowered to build bright futures, regardless of their background or circumstances. UK Youth simply couldn't continue our vital work without the help of our supporters and partners. The figures below provide an indication of the difference your support could make: £67 could help to pay for two disadvantaged young people to develop their employability readiness, support their confidence and build their character. £180 could help to pay for a young person from a disadvantaged area of the country who is physically inactive to overcome the barriers they face and participate in regular exercise. £320 could help to pay for a young person who is not in education, employment or training to use the power of creative pursuits to overcome the obstacles they face. £750 could help pay for a group of six young carers and their youth workers to have a much needed respite at Avon Tyrrell, our outdoor centre. This gives young carers an opportunity they rarely have to experience, learn and develop in a safe space. £1200 could help pay for a local youth organisation to improve their ICT facilities enabling digitally excluded young people to gain basic digital skills. We know that half a million young women aged 18-24 are not in education, employment or training (NEET) – over 90,000 more than men over the course of 2013. That’s nearly 20% of all young women. Women also stay NEET for longer: evidence suggests that they are more likely than men to get stuck in this situation, and that the long-term impact on their lives is devastating. Our Inquiry, “Scarred for Life?” is examining how we can prevent so many young women becoming NEET and how to reduce the risk of them becoming trapped in long-term poverty. We are gathering evidence from urban and rural locations in England and will be sharing our findings and recommendations for making a change. We want to find out what will make a difference and enable more young women to become emotionally resilient and financially independent.
